https://academicareview.com/index.php/jh/article/view/453

Digital transformation has brought significant changes to competency assessment systems in vocational education. Technological advancements such as e-assessment, learning analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, computer-based assessment, and virtual simulation are driving the creation of more effective, adaptive, and data-driven assessment systems. This project will examine the evolution of research on digital transformation in competence assessment in vocational education between 2021-2026. The approach employed is a Literature Review using the PRISMA phases, which comprise identification, screening, eligibility evaluation, and the inclusion of publications. The ScienceDirect database was used for the literature search, which included terms such as digital assessment, competency assessment, and vocational education. The screening method produced 23 papers that matched the inclusion criteria for analysis. The findings show that research trends have evolved from a focus on digital abilities and user perceptions to the use of AI, Generative AI, learning analytics, and intelligent algorithms in competence evaluation. The implementation of digital assessment has proven to enhance efficiency, objectivity, and the accuracy of evaluations, as well as the ability to provide real-time feedback. However, challenges such as educators’ digital competencies, technological infrastructure, and data security remain major concerns. Therefore, strengthening digital competencies, developing infrastructure, and integrating intelligent technologies are crucial strategies for optimizing the implementation of digital assessment in vocational education.
Muhammad AkbarMuhammad GiatmanAmbiyarFahmi RizalNurhasan Syah

https://academicareview.com/index.php/jh/article/view/455

The growing adoption of digital learning environments has intensified interest in learning analytics as a means of understanding student behavior and improving educational decision-making in higher education. Despite the increasing volume of studies in this field, a clear picture of its global research development remains limited. This study examines the research landscape of learning analytics in higher education through a bibliometric analysis of publications indexed in the Scopus database from 2015 to 2025. Following a multi-stage screening process based on publication year, document type, language, and accessibility, 479 open-access journal articles were selected for analysis. Bibliometric mapping was conducted using Scopus metadata and VOSviewer to identify publication trends, influential contributors, collaboration networks, and thematic patterns. The results indicate a consistent rise in publication output over the past decade, reflecting expanding scholarly attention to data-driven learning practices. Research activity is largely concentrated in several productive countries and leading academic journals, with collaboration networks centered around a few dominant institutions. Keyword analysis reveals a shift from basic descriptive analytics toward predictive modeling, artificial intelligence, student engagement, and ethical issues related to data use. These findings offer a clearer understanding of the field’s intellectual structure and may serve as a reference for future research and policy development in learning analytics.
Reni KurniaAmbiyar AmbiyarFahmi Rizal

https://academicareview.com/index.php/jh/article/view/456

Program evaluation is a strategic instrument for quality assurance, accountability, and continuous improvement in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Yet TVET evaluation practices remain fragmented across paradigms, models, indicators, and stakeholder configurations. This systematic literature review synthesizes Scopus-indexed empirical and conceptual studies published from 2019 to 2026 on TVET program evaluation. Following PRISMA 2020, 400 Scopus records retrieved through Publish or Perish were screened; 46 relevant records were identified and 33 core TVET studies were retained for thematic synthesis. Keyword co-occurrence mapping was conducted in VOSviewer at two occurrence thresholds. The findings show that high-visibility TVET literature is dominated by vocational education, systematic reviews, technology-enhanced learning, and employability, while standard program-evaluation models such as CIPP, Kirkpatrick, Stake, and Proves remain under-represented. Most studies emphasize reaction and learning outcomes, whereas behavior-level impact, results-level impact, context evaluation, and utilization of findings remain limited. The review recommends context-sensitive, mixed-method, longitudinal, and stakeholder-inclusive evaluation designs integrated with accreditation and SDG indicators.
Muhammad 'AriqsyahAmbiyar AmbiyarFahmi Rizal

https://academicareview.com/index.php/jh/article/view/466

Character education within Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) often falls into the trap of a rigid, formal enforcement approach, which merely yields superficial compliance. This study aims to analyze the implications of students' (santri) perceptions toward their teachers' (ustadz) competence in driving character education at Dayah Insan Qur’ani, Aceh Besar. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive-explanatory case study design, data were gathered through passive participant observation, in-depth interviews with key informants (students, student organization officials, and resident teachers), and documentary analysis. The data were processed interactively, encompassing condensation, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the students construct a highly positive, multidimensional perception of their teachers as the embodiment of the living uswah, seamlessly integrating pedagogical, professional, personal, and social competencies. The psychological implication of this perception acts as a catalyst in optimizing the internalization of the dayah’s tri-curriculum (Tahfidz, Qanun, and Language) through Albert Bandura’s Social Modeling mechanism, moving systematically from the attention and retention phases to production and motivation. Furthermore, grounded in Herbert C. Kelman’s social influence theory, this positive perception successfully triggers a profound transformation in the students' moral consciousness—bypassing the conformity of forced compliance, shifting toward identification, and ultimately culminating in a well-established internalization phase. This conscience-driven compliance ultimately fosters an authentic and enduring character within the students. This study accentuates that the legitimacy of educators' competence serves as the primary transformative instrument for the moral development of students within a total institution.
Muhammad BayuJalaluddin JalaluddinQurrata AkyuniMuhammad Syarif

https://academicareview.com/index.php/jh/article/view/458

Digital Transformation, Artificial Intelligence, and Career Development in Vocational Technology Education: An Integrative Review Based on Twenty Articles and VOSviewer Mapping. This article synthesizes twenty uploaded scholarly documents to examine how digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), Industry 4.0/5.0, and learning technologies reshape career development in Vocational Technology Education (VTE) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Using an integrative literature review supported by VOSviewer-based visual interpretation, the study reorganizes findings from diverse contexts into a career-oriented conceptual framework. The analysis identifies career development as the central connecting theme linking AI adoption, digital competence, e-learning, electronic portfolio management, cybersecurity behavior, hard skills, lifelong learning, and industry-responsive curricula. The findings show that technology integration in VTE is not merely a matter of introducing digital tools. It requires a systemic alignment of teacher competence, curriculum relevance, institutional governance, industry collaboration, data-informed learning ecosystems, and sustainable lifelong learning pathways. AI can strengthen personalization, feedback, assessment, and instructional efficiency; however, its educational value depends on pedagogical judgment, ethical data practices, infrastructure, and professional development. This study proposes an integrative TVET 5.0 framework built on five pillars: human-centered AI, teachers’ digital and AI competence, industry-responsive curriculum, secure and inclusive technology governance, and lifelong career development ecosystems. The article contributes a synthesized scholarly argument for designing VTE curricula that improve employability, adaptability, and career resilience in the era of intelligent and sustainable industry.
Chairul AnsharM GiatmanNizwardi JalinusErnawati ErnawatiFadhilah FadhilahDedy IrfanHansi Effendi

https://academicareview.com/index.php/jh/article/view/465

Program evaluation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) requires systematic identification of stakeholders, participants, and appropriate sampling strategies. However, a comprehensive synthesis of these methodological elements in TVET evaluation literature remains limited. This study presents a systematic literature review (SLR) following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, analyzing 32 peerreviewed articles published between 2021 and 2026 sourced from Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and Google Scholar. Three research questions guided the analysis: (1) who are the stakeholders identified and involved in TVET program evaluation, (2) what are the characteristics of participants, and (3) what sampling strategies are most frequently applied. Thematic synthesis and Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT) 2018 were employed for data analysis and quality appraisal. Findings reveal eight stakeholder categories, with students (100%) and educators (93.8%) universally present, while certification bodies (21.9%) and government/regulators (28.1%) remain underrepresented. Seven participant types were identified, with significant variation in numbers across study designs (quantitative: M=387; qualitative: M=24). Purposive sampling dominates (56.3%), though only 44.4% of studies using it provide adequate theoretical justification. The study identifies critical reporting gaps and proposes a multistakeholder evaluation framework for TVET. Findings carry implications for evaluation designers, policymakers, and researchers in vocational education, particularly in the context of Indonesia's link and match policy and global TVET transformation.
Andi PutraAmbiyar AmbiyarFahmi Rizal

https://academicareview.com/index.php/jh/article/view/474

The purpose of this study is to: (1) analyze academic supervision carried out by school principals in improving the digital literacy of mathematics teachers, (2) analyze the digital literacy competence of mathematics teachers in SMP Negeri 2 Nibong North Aceh Regency. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and documentation of the principal and three mathematics teachers. The data were analyzed by methods of reduction, display and conclusion drawing. The results recommend that the joint planning of academic supervision through a clinical approach was more effective, the focus of supervision changed from administrative compliance to mentoring teachers in the integration of mathematical software. Teachers’ digital literacy improved greatly, particularly in designing digital learning experiences, selecting adaptive visual media, and conducting online platform-based assessments. High motivation of teachers and sufficient facilities were important supporting factors. Limited availability of principals and differences in initial digital competence of teachers (digital gap) were identified as barriers. Regular and systematic academic supervision, considering a dialogical/clinical approach, was effective in improving the digital literacy of mathematics teachers. These findings point to the need to redefine the role of the supervisor from an administrative overseer to a mentor and technology facilitator, with implications for the practice of school leadership development for digital-era education.
Hamdani HamdaniMunawar MunawarCut Khairani

https://academicareview.com/index.php/jh/article/view/475

This study examines a classical Malay Islamic manuscript to investigate how Islamic theology, Sharia, and Sufism are integrated within a single model of spiritual education in the Malay-Indonesian Archipelago. Using a qualitative philological approach combined with content analysis and intellectual history, the study describes the manuscript, presents its transliteration and translation, and analyzes its religious teachings. The findings demonstrate that the manuscript is a didactic religious text (ta?l?m al-d?n) that systematically integrates Ash?arite theology, Shafi?ite jurisprudence, and Sufi spirituality into a coherent pedagogical framework. Within this model, ma?rifatull?h (knowledge of God) is positioned as the ultimate educational objective, while the authority of the teacher (murshid) is embedded in the construction of faith and religious obedience as the principal medium of spiritual formation. These findings highlight the manuscript's significance as evidence of the intellectual and educational traditions of Islam in the Malay-Indonesian world and contribute to philological studies, Islamic intellectual history, and contemporary Islamic education.
Rifka Haida RahmaNunu BurhanuddinHayati HayatiSeptika Rudiamon

https://academicareview.com/index.php/jh/article/view/485

School leadership is widely accepted as being critically important for the quality of education, but there is a lack of empirical evidence on leadership practices in rural secondary schools, especially in geographically remote areas in developing countries. This qualitative single-case study investigates the strategic efforts of a rural public secondary school principal of SMA Negeri 1 Geureudong Pase to improve educational quality in the face of significant contextual constraints. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with the principal, vice principals, teachers, school committee members, and administrative staff; classroom and school observations; and document analysis. Iterative thematic analysis was employed to reduce the data, code and categorize it, and triangulate across sources to establish credibility and trustworthiness. The results point to three interrelated approaches to leadership: transformational and visionary leadership that created a shared vision and culture of collaboration; instructional leadership operationalized through supervision, mentoring, and professional learning; and distributed, community-oriented leadership that increased capacity through teacher empowerment and stakeholder partnerships. Teacher commitment and community participation supported these strategies, despite the continued challenges of geographic isolation, limited facilities, and teacher shortages. The integrated approach resulted in improvements in teaching quality, student achievement, discipline, and stakeholders' trust. The study adds to the literature on contextual school leadership and has practical implications for leadership development and policy in remote educational environments.
Muslem MuslemMukhlisuddin IlyasSaiful Bahri

This study aims to analyze the short-term, long-term, and causal relationships between non-performing financing and profitability at PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI). Observations were conducted using secondary data from quarterly financial statements spanning from Q1-2021 to Q2-2026 (n=22). The research variables include Non-Performing Financing (NPF) as the financing risk indicator, alongside Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE) as profitability indicators. The data analysis methods employ the Error Correction Model (ECM) and the Granger Causality Test, processed through EViews software. The Johansen cointegration test results indicate a stable, long-term equilibrium relationship among the variables. Furthermore, the ECM estimation models prove that in the short term, NPF has a negative and significant effect on ROA and ROE. The Error Correction Term (ECT) value demonstrates a disequilibrium adjustment speed of 41.2 percent per quarter for the ROA model, while the ECT for the ROE model is 38.5 percent, indicating a relatively rapid adjustment. Additionally, the Granger causality test confirms a one-way causality where NPF drives the movements of ROA and ROE, but not vice versa. It is recommended that BSI management tighten their digital financing risk mitigation systems to maintain long-term banking profitability stability.

Mukhlis M.
